Blue Skies

A friend asked if I’d ever participated in any of the Journal-based photo challenges and I replied that I never thought my work was good enough to expose any more widely than I already have.  But I took a look at the suggested sites again and found a topic I particularly liked in light of all the grey that’s descended in my life lately.  The topic was ‘Blue Skies’ and the ‘assignment’ was to post a picture dominated by cloudless expanses of blue.  You can find links to others who have posted entries here: Your Monday Photo Shoot: Blue Skies.

I’ve always liked the subject of this photo because its always made me smile.  Another photographer also captured a less-than-flattering image of me in the process of taking this shot (lying flat on my back in a wet parking lot in order to get the perspective I wanted)  - and that helps keep me humble in case I ever need it.  To any and all who read this, I wish you blue skies - regardless of the weather.

My sincere thanks to all who took the time to read my last entry and for the wonderful, supportive comments you left.  I intended it to be a celebration of the life dad led and the inspiration he has been to me - and not a maudlin lament of loss.  I truly hope that you found it as uplifting to read as I found it cathartic to write.  I know without doubt that he has received the rest he sought and so richly deserved.  And that’s one of the reasons I chose this topic – because for him the skies will now always be blue.

Your picture, like your mind, has a wonderful perspective.

That photo certainly has a lot of blue skies. You did good. I wonder if the other photographer got the sky in blue with you in it also. LOL. Yes, your last entry was very uplifting to me. Helen

We do always like to think that the blue skies along with fair weather bring some happiness, smiles and warmth !  I certainly do! 'On Ya' - ma

A beautiful, blue sky and words that bring a smile...  your photos, and you, are more than capable of evoking both.  May you be blessed with many blue skies of your very own.

When I become a bit more savvy, I will need to share some photos of "blue sky" i took with a mere throw away camera while visiting "The Garden of the Gods" in Colorado Springs.  A friend said one of them in particular I should have blown up into a poster it turned out that well.  Got a chuckle out of your photo.

I like the picture.  Showcases the blue skies wonderfully, but I'd like to see the complete piece of art, too.  Is it metal?

I like this picture very much!  The sculpture is so interesting.  I like, too, what you said about the 'sky will always be blue' for your Dad.  When my Dad was so ill, we talked about that.  How Heaven is so perfect and how great it will be for him to be there.  We talked about the promise that we will see each other again and how it will be in a wink of the eye for him.

Your entry about your father was so uplifting and tender.  It is a wonderful tribute to your love for him.

This is beauitful, Bruce! LOVELY! What did you just say?? you "didn't think your work was good enough to put out there" etc.? you ARE joking, right? LOL
Anywho-your pictures are great-and most of John's Monday Photo assignments,
can mean any picture of yours OR an old one if it fits the topic, or someone elses too-wish you would
do more! My problem is that I always FORGET its Monday and therefore forget
to check out what the new assignment is! Wish you had posted the picture of you taking the picture, you know, the one on your belly? on the wet ground? LOL
funny.....OK-came over to say hello, see how you were doing and feeling...be
well friend! ~Diane~

Sam

What an inspiration.  I peruse thousands of images daily and I'd just like to say that yours were a treat for sore eyes.  It's such a pleasure to view a gallery where it is obvious that the artist has taken extra steps to position himself and compose beore he presses that button.  I tell people, "God sets the scene, all I have to do is frame it."

If I could write and had time, I'd add some motivational messages to my journal as you have.  I'll have to work on that.

Cheers
Clyde

Ps.  Is there a link somewhere in your journal to your AOL Member Profile and Photo Album?  Didn't see one, but I went there.  Even more exquisite images.
